Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 4900 Bliss Street about 8 a.m. on Saturday (August 13).
The suspect, Mario Quintanilla, 49, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court. A February booking photo of Quintanilla, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.
The victim, 46, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective A. Golden reported:
The victim and a female witness were sleeping inside his vehicle at the above address. The victim exited his vehicle as he felt one of the tires had gone flat. The victim then saw Quintanilla and the men got into an argument. During the argument, Quintanilla shot the victim more than once and then fled the scene. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victim and Quintanilla had been involved in several arguments in previous days and the female witness had a previous dating relationship with Quintanilla.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Quintanilla was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting. He remains at large.
