Houston police have learned a woman critically injured in a crash at 13600 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 10:15 a.m. last Friday (May 26) has died.
The identity of the victim, 95, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Prejean and Clear Lake Patrol Division Officers reported:
The woman was a passenger in a red Cadillac CT6 traveling southbound on the freeway near the above address. The driver of a red Honda Civic, also traveling southbound, failed to control his speed and struck the rear of the Cadillac. The impact caused the Cadillac to strike the rear of a maroon Dodge Dart.
The woman was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, where doctors pronounced her deceased today (May 30). The male driver of the Cadillac and the female driver of the Dodge were not injured.
The male driver, 37, of the Honda, remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
