Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2111 San Jacinto Street

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of another at 2111 San Jacinto Street that occurred about 2:55 p.m. yesterday (July 31).
The identity of the deceased male, 26, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Lazo and Detective M. Providence reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a convenience store at the above address and found a male suffering a gun shot wound inside. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A second male suffered a graze wound and was treated and released at the scene.
Investigators learned that a fight broke out inside of the store, which led to a suspect producing a firearm and firing multiple rounds into the store. Both victims were struck.
The suspect is described only as a black male in his mid to late 20s wearing a black t-shirt and black or blue jeans. He is approximately five feet five inches tall to five feet eight inches tall. He was last seen wearing a large red backpack,
