Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman that occurred at 3100 Elmside Drive about 8 p.m. on February 23.
One suspect, Leashtian Blanks, 17, is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. A booking photo of Blanks is attached to this news release.
A second male suspect, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a murder charge. Juvenile suspect information is not releasable.
The victim is identified as Isha Goff, 37.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Graff II and E. Torres II reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting and found Ms. Goff had been shot while in her vehicle. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased.
A preliminary investigation determined Goff was going to her residence with her two sons, 13 and 3 years of age, when two unknown male suspects approached and immediately fired shots into her vehicle. Goff was struck by the gunfire. Her children were not injured.
At that time, the suspects were described only as two black males in their late teens to early 20s.
Further investigation identified Blanks and the juvenile male as suspects in this case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and, on Tuesday (March 26), both suspects were arrested by officers with the HPD Northeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team without incident.
