Charges have been filed against three suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 2490 South Wayside Drive about 8:20 p.m. on April 1.
The suspects, Hernan Torres, Sr. 50, Hernan Torres, Jr. 25. and Hernando Torres, 19, are charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. Booking photos of all three suspects are attached to this news release.
The deceased victim is identified as Luis Alfredo Pacheco, 34. The other victim, 29, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Waterwall and C. Vaughn reported:
HPD patrol officers and Harris County Precinct 6 deputy constables responded to a shooting call at a convenience store at the above address and found two men struck by gunfire. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported one man, later identified as Mr. Pacheco, to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A second man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene determined the two victims, along with two other men, exited the convenience store and got into a black SUV. At that time, a silver Doidge Charger and a silver Mercedes Benz approached the SUV. Two males exited the Dodge, one male exited the Mercedes Benz and all three fired multiple shots at the SUV. The suspects then fled the scene in the Charger and Mercedes. Surveillance photos of the wanted suspects, described at that time only as adult Hispanic males wearing white, and the vehicles were released to the public on April 2.
Further investigation identified the Torres’ as the suspects in this case. On Monday (May 6), the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team, along with agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Marshals arrested Hernan Torres, Jr and Hernando Torres without incident.
A third suspect, Hernan Torres, Sr. is in custody in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on unrelated charges. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Harris County. A 2022 Harris County booking photo is attached to this news release.
