2-Alarm House Fire in The Greater Uptown Area

WHAT: 2-alarm house fire.
WHEN: May 20, 2024, at 3:12 p.m.
WHERE: 8800 block of Memorial Dr. 77024.
INJURIES: One firefighter transported to the hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED: More than $3,700,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $2,313,800 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a house. They ventilated the roof and began an attack on the fire. A second-alarm was requested for manpower and crews rotated until the fire was extinguished and the hotspots were fully out. One firefighter was transported to the hospital. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 119 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 2, 50, 5, 6, 8, 28, 3, 11, 13, 38, 49, 51, 60, 62, 7, 16, 69, 19, 78, 37, 30, 57, 15, Rescue 10 and Rehab 17.
