Apartment Fire in The Spring Branch West Area

WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: May 19, 2024, at 9:23 p.m.
WHERE: 10011 Hammerly Blvd. 77080.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: More than $13,000,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $65,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from the second floor of a 2-story apartment building. They began an attack on the fire and conducted a primary search. The sheet rock was checked for hidden fire and nearby units were checked for extension. The utilities were controlled, and the fire as contained Crews checked the attic with no extension found and the fire was fully extinguished. The fire originated from the stove area in the kitchen of the unit. It appeared a switch on the stove had accidentally been turned on prior to the power being restored to the building following a major storm. 42 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 77, 2, 5, 38, 49, 50, 66, 67 and 57.
