Townhome Fire in The Greater Uptown Area

WHAT: Townhome fire.
WHEN: May 21, 2024, at 8:57 a.m.
WHERE: 1800 block of Bering Dr. 77057.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $375,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $375,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (unspecified electrical malfunction in power strip).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find a townhouse on fire and made an offensive attack. They conducted a primary search and ventilated the roof. A primary search was also completed of the nearby townhomes. Crews extinguished the fire and contained it to the townhome of origin. The American Red Cross responded to assist the residents and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 44 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 28, 2, 5, 3, 38, 51, 60 and 30.
