Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8600 Mykawa Road about 11:55 p.m. on Saturday (July 13).
The identity of the deceased male, 35, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant V. Vo and Officer C. Vargas reported:
A red Chevrolet GMT400 pickup truck was traveling northbound near the above address when the vehicle struck a pedestrian running southbound on Mykawa Road. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and called 9-1-1.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
The driver of the pickup stated to officers he saw the pedestrian at the last minute and attempted to stop. He was unable to and struck the pedestrian. The driver admitted to officers he had been drinking and was determined to be impaired.
The driver, identified as Roman Aguilar Ortuno, 41, is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #15 and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
The investigation is continuing.
