A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 13103 Westheimer Road about 11:15 p.m. on May 30, 2023 is in custody.
The suspect, Marquel Deshawn Ponder, 32, is charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court. A current booking photo of Ponder, who is in custody in Fulton County, Georgia, is unavailable at this time. A 2022 Harris County Jail booking photo is attached to this news release.
A second suspect, Derrick Trumaine Jackquet, 27, is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. A booking photo of Jackquet is attached to this news release.
They are accused in the killing of Davion Scott, 24.HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Bowling, J. Jorsch and D. Lunceford reported:Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a gas station at the above address and found Mr. Scott inside his vehicle. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.The preliminary investigation indicated two suspects exited a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice. One suspect stood near the passenger door of the Caprice and fired shots at Scott’s vehicle and the other suspect walked up to the driver’s side door of Scott’s vehicle and shot him at close range. The suspects entered the Chevrolet and fled eastbound on Westheimer Road.Further investigation identified one of the suspects as Ponder and he was subsequently charged on June 13, 2023.
Jackquet was identified as the other suspect and he was charged on November 13, 2023. Members of the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team arrested Jackquet on Dec. 21, 2023.
On July 23, 2024, Atlanta Police Department arrested Ponder and booked him into the Fulton County Jail. He is awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
