A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 8237 Locksley Road about 8:35 p.m. last Thursday (September 12) is in custody.
The suspect, Jalin J. Foreman, 27, is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. A booking photo of Foreman is attached to this news release.
He is accused in the death of Jalen Whitlock, 25.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Montealegre-Cerrato and G. Rangel reported:
HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a shooting call at a townhome at the above address and found an unresponsive woman with gunshot wounds in the doorway of her residence. Paramedics pronounced the victim, later identified as Ms. Whitlock, deceased.
A preliminary investigation determined an unknown suspect arrived at the location and began yelling at someone. According to witnesses, the suspect then pulled out a weapon and fired shots at the house. Whitlock was struck by the gunfire. No one else inside the residence was injured The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle described as a white Chevrolet Tahoe.
Further investigation identified Foreman as the suspect. He and Ms. Whitlock were in a previous relationship and had two children together.
On Monday afternoon (Sept. 16), Foreman turned himself in, was questioned and subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
