Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the death of a female found at 704 East 32nd Street about 7:45 p.m. on March 25.
The suspect, Tracy Gonzales, 48, is charged with injury to a disabled person with serious bodily injury in the 488th State District Court. A booking photo of Gonzales is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Nayeli Perez, 16.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Lamont and Detective A. Herrera reported:
Officers responded to a report of a deceased person at a residence at the above address. They found an unresponsive juvenile female, later identified as Ms. Perez, in her bedroom. She had suffered unknown injuries. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased.
The initial investigation was pending a cause of death ruling by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Ms. Perez’s death was ruled a homicide.
Following further investigation, Gonzales, who acted as Perez’s caretaker, was arrested on December 30 and subsequently charged for her role in the victim’s death.
