Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed robbery suspect by an HPD officer at 2900 Broad Haven Drive in north Harris County about 5:50 p.m. on Thursday (April 5).The male suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.Officer D. Inocencio, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured. He was sworn in as an HPD officer in July 2018 and is assigned to the Northbelt Division.HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant B. Smith and Detectives M. Estep, V. Lewis and R. Anderson reported:Officers with the North Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team were conducting surveillance on a possible robbery suspect who was observed entering a business and robbing employees at gunpoint. The suspect then exited the store and ran from the scene. As officers attempted to arrest the suspect, one officer exited his patrol vehicle as the suspect was running toward him with a pistol in his hand. The officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the suspect. First aid was given to the suspect and Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a hospital in critical condition. Doctors later pronounced the male deceased.HPD is conducting a parallel investigation with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division since the incident occurred outside the city limits of Houston.
