Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4700 Scott Street about 12 a.m. on Monday (April 24).
The suspect is described only as a heavy set, black male in his early 20s. Surveillance video of the suspect boarding a METRO bus at 1900 Travis Street about 11:40 p.m. on Sunday (April 23) is attached to this news release. The shooting occurred 20 minutes later.
The identity of the victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Fregia & D. Higgs reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
Preliminary investigation revealed the victim and the suspect were involved in a physical confrontation on a METRO bus. Witnesses stated the victim had punched the suspect multiple times. The incident then carried over after they exited the bus and the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the victim multiple times, striking him. The suspect then fled south on Scott street by foot.
