Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9903 South Dairy Ashford Road about 12:10 p.m. on Thursday (May 25).
The suspect, Jusiayn Bennett, 19, is charged with capital murder in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of Bennett is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 28, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Vinogradov and D. Crowder reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a a person down call at the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address. They found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Subsequent investigation led officers to the victim’s stolen vehicle in Missouri City and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle crashed in Sugar Land and three males exited the vehicle and fled on foot. HPD officers and other area law enforcement partners initiated a foot pursuit. All three males were detained and interviewed by HPD homicide detectives. Bennett was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in the shooting.
The two other males were charged with evading arrest in Fort Bend County.
