Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a man found at 7909 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 4:40 a.m. on August 7. A surveillance photo of the person of interest is attached to this news release. He is wanted for questioning and is not charged at this time.
The victim, Dexter Watson, 27, was pronounced deceased at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective K. Collier reported: METRO Police Department officers responded to a bus stop at the above address and found Mr. Watson unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him deceased. Watson had an an injury consistent with either a gunshot or puncture wound. An autopsy ruled it was a gunshot wound.
On September 6, detectives and Mr. Watson’s mother held a news conference at HPD Headquarters to plea to the public for any information on the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting. Detectives stated it was believed the incident occurred just after midnight, several hours before Watson was observed by a passerby.
Detectives gathered surveillance video and observed a small group of individuals in the area where Watson was found. One of them, on a bicycle, is featured in the photo being released by detectives. They would like to speak with the male to determine whether he has additional information in the case.
