UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in September 2023 Fatal Shooting at 3825 Southlawn Street,
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two males at 3825 Southlawn Street about 5:25 p.m. on September 4, 2023.
The suspect, Rodney Lee Jackson, 31, is charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court. A booking photo of Jackson is attached to this news release.
The victims are identified as Antwon Jerome Alexander, 23 and Jalen Mann, 22.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Herrera, J. Gardner, and C. Vaughn reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the courtyard of an apartment complex at the above address and found the victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department pronounced one male, later identified as Mr. Alexander, deceased at the scene and transported the other male, later identified as Mr. Mann, to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
At that time there was no known motive or suspect(s).
Further investigation identified Jackson as the suspect in this case. On Saturday (January 20), HPD patrol officers detained Jackson on an unrelated charge in the 4900 block of Ward Street. Jackson was detained without incident and officers recovered a weapon in the vehicle. Homicide detectives then spoke with Jackson, and after speaking him, investigators contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Jackson was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center without incident.
