The fatal shooting of a man at 1441 Wood Hollow Drive about 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday (May 7) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The male shooter, 34, was not injured.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective A. Hernandez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot at an apartment complex at the above address and found Houston Fire Department paramedics providing medical assistance to an unresponsive man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The apartment tenant and a witness were located at a nearby apartment.
Further investigation determined the man knocked on the door of an apartment and, after several minutes, the tenant opened the door. The tenant told the man he was at the wrong apartment and the man then pulled out a gun. Fearing for his and the witness’ safety, the tenant, also armed, fired his weapon several times at the suspect.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and it was determined the case would be referred to a Harris County grand jury for review.
