Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6 North Sam Houston Parkway East

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road (Beltway 8) about 9 p.m. on Thursday (May 16).
The identity of the victim, 24, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Brooks and C. Davidson reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call outside a hotel at the above address and discovered a man unresponsive in a room.  He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.
Witnesses and evidence indicates a male suspect exchanged gunfire with an unknown male in the hotel courtyard on the north side of the property.  The suspect ran south to the parking lot, where he then exchanged gunfire with the victim, resulting in the victim sustaining a gunshot wound. The victim then went to the hotel room where he was discovered by a witness.
The suspect, described only as a black male in his 20s, left the scene in an unknown direction.  The unknown male who the suspect originally exchanged gunfire with also fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
