WHAT: Warehouse fire.
WHEN: July 16, 2024, at 4:31 p.m.
WHERE: 2499 Everette St. 77009.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $80,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $40,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (involving an electrical cord).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a warehouse and made an offensive attack. HFD Hazardous Materials investigated the materials involved in the fire and took air quality readings. The readings were within normal limits. As a precaution crews completed decontamination. A safe distance was maintained as the fire was extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 56 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 15, 6, 19, 7, 12, 16, 18, 24, 30, Rehab 17 and Hazmat 22.
