Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 9700 Bissonnet Road about 8:05 a.m. today (September 18).
The identity of the deceased man, 42, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer A. Hart reported:
A man was crossing the street – not in a crosswalk – near the above address when he was struck by a vehicle of unknown make or model traveling eastbound. The man fell in front of a gray Nissan Rogue, also traveling eastbound, and was struck a second time.
The unknown vehicle did not stop and fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The female driver, 27, of the Nissan stopped, remained at the scene and called 9-1-1.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Nissan was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
