Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2300 Scott Street, Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 2300 Scott Street about 2:20 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 28).
The suspect, Alexandre Segal, 49, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Segal is attached to this news release.
The female victim is identified as Ethel Evans, 72.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer D. Hoang reported:
Segal was driving a red Toyota Tundra pickup truck southbound at the above address when his vehicle struck the back end of a red Toyota Corolla. The impact caused the truck to go up onto a sidewalk, where it struck a female pedestrian believed to be lying down and sleeping. Paramedics pronounced the female, later identified as Ms. Evans, deceased at the scene.
No one else was injured.
Segal showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County Jail.
