UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 3030 Elmside Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man found at 3030 Elmside Drive about 8:50 p.m. on October 1.
The suspect, Dannier Aguero-Benitez, 37, is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court.  A  February 2024 booking photo of Aguero-Benitez, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Alleydis Fernandez-Aguirre, 47.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Althaus and D. Davis reported:
Officers responded to a person down call at the apartment complex at the above address and located an unresponsive male in the parking lot.  He had suffered at least one gunshot wound.  Paramedics pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Fernandez-Aguirre, deceased at the scene.
At that time, there was no known suspect description.
Further investigation identified Aguero-Benitez as the suspect in this case.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and a murder charge was filed on Monday (Oct. 7).  Aguero-Benitez remains at large.
