Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 611 Loper Street about 12:25 a.m. on August 10.
The suspect, Cristian Gasca Martinez, 17, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo of Gasca Martinez is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Osvaldo Casas, 37.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Hughey and L. Lovelace reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found an unresponsive male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Casas, deceased.
It is believed Casas confronted a suspicious person(s) on his street prior to being shot. At that time, there was no known suspect description.
Further investigation identified Gasca Martinez as the suspect in this case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Gasca Martinez was subsequently charged.
On Thursday (October 17) Gasca Martinez was arrested by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
