Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 7900 Harrisburg Boulevard about 2:45 p.m. on October 9.
The suspect, Brandon Alexander Munoz, 19, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 183rd State District Court. A photo of Munoz, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.
The victim, 40, was transported to an area hospital in critical, but stable, condition.
HPD Eastside Division officer R. Segura reported:
An off-duty HPD officer witnessed the shooting incident that happened in the roadway at the above address and followed a vehicle the suspect was in. Patrol officers responded, conducted a traffic stop, and detained three occupants of the vehicle.
The occupants told officers they believed someone was stealing a van that belong to them and one person fired shots towards the victim, striking him multiple times. Officers consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the case was referred for further investigation.
Investigators learned the victim was performing a repossession job at the time of the shooting.
Officers then consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Munoz was charged for his role in the shooting on October 22. He is not in custody at this time.
The investigation is still ongoing.
