Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6000 South Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the 6000 block of South Freeway (South U.S. Highway 288) about 11:10 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 18).
The identity of the victim, believed to be between 40 – 50 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Elliott and D. Hobson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the median of the freeway’s HOV lanes and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
According to witnesses, a male suspect was seen chasing the victim while shooting at him. Officers located a male matching the suspect’s description and as they attempted to detain him, he fled on foot.  He was arrested for charges unrelated to the shooting.
At this time, the investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing.
