Details | On Saturday, December 26th, 2020, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the defendant, Jeffrey Fontenot, contacted 911 dispatchers and advised them that he had shot and killed his wife. Deputies with the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office responded to the scene and located Fontenot, along with his wife, Yashica Fontenot. Ms. Fontenot had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Jeffrey Fontenot was taken into custody without incident and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division and Crime Scene Unit were contacted.
Also in the home at the time of the incident was the Fontenot’s 10 year old son. During the incident, Fontenot shot at the child, causing a superficial wound to the child’s arm. The boy then ran to his bedroom where he barricaded himself in the room until deputies arrived. The child was later released to family members at the scene. Fontenot was interviewed by investigators and admitted to shooting and killing his wife after becoming angry and frustrated with her. He also admitted to shooting at his 10 year old step-son. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against Fontenot. |
