HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow, C. Cegielski and Detectives W. Gilbert and M. Estep reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a convenience store at the above address and found Messrs. Hosea, Holcomb and Butler with gunshot wounds. All three men were transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital, where Hosea was later pronounced deceased on February 29.
An initial investigation determined three separate shooting incidents occurred in a 90 minute period. About 2:30 p.m., one man, later identified as Faizon Nickerson, 22, was shot by an unknown suspect(s) following a vehicle crash in the 7300 block of De Priest. Nickerson was transported by HFD paramedics to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Approximately one hour later, in the 7100 block of Knox Street, a second man, identified as Dejuan Davis, 18, was also shot by an unknown suspect(s) and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. At approximately 3:50 p.m., Hosea, Holcomb and Butler, were standing outside a convenience store at 8015 De Priest and were shot by unknown suspect(s). Investigators believe all three shooting incidents are related.
Further investigation identified Smith as the shooter in the 8015 De Priest incident and he was subsequently charged on October 18. Smith was already in jail on unrelated charges.
The investigation is continuing, as detectives are searching for other possible suspects in the three shootings.
