Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and wounding of three people at 1909 Schilder Street about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday (October 31). The identity of the victim, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detective C. Flora reported: HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and found the victim with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation and witness statements determined a large party was held in the backyard of the residence. During the party, a group of males began to fight with one another. During the fight, an unknown person pulled out a handgun and fired into the crowd. The victim, who was an innocent bystander, attempted to run from the gunfire and was struck. Three other persons were also struck by the gunfire and were transported by paramedics to area hospitals, two with non-life-threatening injuries and the third in an unknown condition.Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
