Suspect Arrested, Charged in Stabbing at 5500 De Soto Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a woman at 5500 De Soto Street about 1:15 p.m. on Monday (June 10).
The suspect Michael Edward Banks, 42, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 183rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Banks is attached to this news release.
The victim, 20 was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective J. Wright reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an assault at the above address and located a male matching suspect description provided.  Officers learned notified the victim had been transported by private vehicle to the hospital to be treated for a stab wound(s).  The suspect, later identified as Banks, was detained without incident.
Further investigation determined Banks had come to the apartment and got into an argument with the victim.  The argument escalated and Banks assaulted the woman and stabbed her with a pair of scissors.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Banks was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.  Banks was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
