Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7500 South Freeway (State Highway 288) service road about 4:35 p.m. on Sunday (September 29).
The identity of the deceased male, 66, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant V. Vo and Officer T. La reported:
The male was driving a white Jeep Rubicon northbound on the service road near the above address when the vehicle veered off the roadway to its right and struck a wooden utility pole .
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the driver and a front seat passenger to an area hospital, where the driver was pronounced deceased.
The female passenger, 57, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
