WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: November 29, 2024, at 2:59 a.m.
WHERE: 3401 Blalock Rd. 77080.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: More than $4,500,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from the first floor of a 2-story apartment building. Two residents were safely rescued, uninjured, from their second-floor balcony. Additional HFD units were requested as crews controlled and fully extinguished the fire. A primary search was completed with everyone safely accounted for and the utilities were secured. A captain fell through a second story hole in the floor and landed, uninjured. Firefighters were notified of the safety concern. Barrier tape was also used to minimize the danger of the unsafe areas. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. 51 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters form Stations 38, 2, 4, 5, 49, 50, 77, 57, Hazmat 66, Heavy Rescue 11, and Rescue 42.
