Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 14000 Bay Oaks Boulevard about 4:35 a.m. today (January 23).
The identity of the deceased male, 83, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer A. Hart reported:
It is believed that about 4:35 a.m. today, the driver of a black Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound near the above address, lost control of the truck and drove onto a raised concrete curb. The Toyota drove onto the median, struck a tree and continued southbound, crossing the intersection of Clear Lake City Boulevard. The truck then drove on the median, crossed the northbound lanes and ended in the middle of a pond of a golf course.
A passerby reported seeing the vehicle submerged in the pond about 7 a.m. and called 911.
The HPD Dive Team responded to the scene and assisted in recovering the driver’s body. It is possible the man suffered a medical episode leading to the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
