Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6700 Navigation Boulevard about 9 a.m. today (Oct. 28).
The identity of the male victim, 59, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho reported:
A white concrete mixer truck was stopped in the eastbound lane at the above address (intersection at Wayside Drive). The victim, a pedestrian, was walking northbound on the sidewalk along Wayside Drive and approaching the intersection. The concrete mixer began to move forward through the intersection once the signal light turned green. The pedestrian disregarded the red pedestrian stop signal, jogged into the intersection and was struck by the concrete mixer. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
The male driver, 43, was questioned, did not show signs of impairment and was released. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is continuing.
