Houston police are awaiting autopsy results on a woman found deceased after a fire was extinguished at 3200 Truxillo Street about 11:50 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 29).
The identity of the female, 63, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective N. Sharp reported:
Officers were dispatched to a welfare check call at the apartment complex at the above address and were advised by Houston Fire Department firefighters that a woman was found inside an apartment after a fire had been extinguished before firefighters arrived. Paramedics pronounced the female deceased at the scene.
HFD arson investigators stated the preliminary cause of the fire appears to be accidental, with the final ruling undetermined at this time.
