Suspect Arrested, Charged in Stabbing at 7328 Farnsworth Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a woman at 7328 Farnsworth Street about 3:15 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 4).
The suspect, Joseph Anthony Abreu, 35, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member and burglary with intent to commit other felony in the 486th State District Court.  A booking photo of Abreu is attached to this news release.
The victim, 58, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Family Violence Division Detective V. Jones reported:
Officers responded to a stabbing call at the residence at the above address and learned a female was stabbed by her son.  Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital.  The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
It was learned the suspect. identified as Abreu, broke into the residence by kicking the front door.  Once inside, he demanded his mother’s wallet.  When she did not produce her wallet, the suspect pushed and stabbed his mother.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and charges were filed on Abreu.  On Sunday (Jan. 5). Abreu was located and taken into custody.
