Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 9100 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 12:25 a.m. on Sunday (June 4).
The identity of the deceased male, 32, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer C. Vargas reported:
The male was driving a grey Infiniti G37 northbound on the Gulf Freeway at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the guardrail on the east side of the freeway. The vehicle then went airborne, landed on its hood and caught fire.
A family member traveling in another vehicle was able to stop and pull the male out of his vehicle. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash. The investigation is ongoing.
