WHAT: Restaurant fire.
WHEN: August 24, 2023, at 12:40 a.m.
WHERE: 1609 Durham Dr. 77007.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $590,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $250,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find heavy fire coming from the roof area of a 1-story restaurant. They made an offensive attack and attempted to gain entry; however, a heavy-duty lock and chain obstructed them. Additional crews assisted and they were able to get inside the structure to fully extinguish the fire. The utilities were secured and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 34 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 11, 15, 6, 8, 16, 62 and 30.
