House Fire in The Westbury Area

CAUSE: Unintentional – heat source to close to combustibles.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters received a report of a fire and explosion heard from a home’s garage and arrived on scene within five minutes to find fire and smoke coming from the garage. They conducted a primary search and inspected the attic and extinguished the fire. The house and garage were ventilated, and the utilities were shut-off. The resident had been cleaning parts with gasoline and other chemicals when the fire occurred near a water heater. Crews from Stations 21, 59, 51, 68 and 82 responded to this incident.
