2-Alarm Apartment Fire in The Mid West Area

WHAT: 2-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: May 8, 2023 at 7:11 p.m.
WHERE: 2100 Tanglewilde St. 77063.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $3,480,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $520,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental due to carelessly discarded smoking materials.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find fire coming from a 2-story apartment building. A second alarm was requested, and crews used a saw to cut the fence for access. They made an attack on the fire and pulled ceiling to expose the attic and access the fire. A primary search was completed, and crews rotated to fully extinguished the fire. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters from Stations 69, 2, 5, 28, 68, 83, 10, 49, 60, 77, 11, 6, 51, 73, 8, 37, 24, 57, 33, Heavy Rescue 11, Recue 10, Rehab 17 and the Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
